During my exchange in Vancouver I took a Ceramics Class with the Sculptor Julie York. This was my first experience of ceramics and through a range of projects we explored different techniques and processes to give each piece a different finish.

Counterbalance

I created two plaster moulds to slip cast a cup and bowl form. Using two kinds of slip and different glazes I produced a set of these objects and experimented with the skills I had learned.

One of our projects looked at the idea of scale, and how a form can take on a new meaning depending on it's scale. Could bacteria become beautiful when enlarged and made out of ceramic?
