Jinhyun Jeon is a designer based in the Netherlands and has undertaken a whole range of projects surrounding eating experiences and sensory perception.
Tableware as Sensorial Stimuli transforms the eating experience through the utensils used. A fascinating range of metal, ceramic and plastic pieces make up a collection intended provoke a range of senses with each mouthful.
Texture when eating is something I'm looking at in my ongoing No Picnic project, with regards to the way that chemotherapy can alter your sense of taste.
Jinhyun Jeon was inspired by synesthesia, but it immediately made me think of a family friend who lost her sense of taste and smell. Whenever she came round for dinner, my mum would make sure she cooked a meal with a few different textures to make it more interesting for her friend - but redefining the cutlery itself brings this concept to a whole new level.
